From Farm to Table: An Unforgettable Experience at Sykes House Farm

From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how picturesque the farm was. Expecting something more industrial, we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful, serene setting. The contrast was striking, and it made for a fantastic first impression.

One highlight was witnessing the delicate process of trimming a rack of lamb. Chris, in his element, took it a step further by hoisting a full lamb onto his shoulder, much to everyone’s amusement. The tomahawk steaks, on the other hand, were an absolute spectacle—each one seemingly larger than Chris’s head! We learned so much about different cuts of meat and the importance of utilizing every part of the animal to its full potential.

Before heading home, we couldn’t resist stopping by the on-site farm shop. Packed with incredible produce, we picked up some delicious goodies to take back with us—a perfect way to round off an unforgettable day.

It has been an incredibly busy few weeks for us, with the whirlwind of opening our restaurant consuming all our time and energy. But now, we finally have a moment to share an unforgettable experience—our visit to Sykes House Farm with Matt Tyf and Chris just a few weeks ago.

We got a warm welcome from Greg Holmes, and without wasting any time, we dove straight into the nitty-gritty of the operation, stepping into the factory where the magic happens. Watching the skilled staff prepare and package orders for delivery across the country was fascinating. It was an eye-opening experience to see firsthand the level of care and precision that goes into every cut of meat.

The on-site demo kitchen at the farm, home to Development Chef Greg Lewis, was another highlight of our visit. The space was incredible, designed for innovation and culinary creativity. Chef Greg was more than happy to give us the full guided tour of his kitchen before treating us to a masterclass in preparing short rib, ox cheeks, and beef shin. Sampling his dishes was an absolute treat—the flavours were outstanding, and the quality of the meat reaffirmed that we had made the right choice in partnering with Sykes House Farm.
Our visit to Sykes House Farm was not only educational but also inspiring. It gave us a deeper appreciation for the hard work, skill, and passion that goes into producing top-quality meat. We’re incredibly excited to be working with them and can’t wait for you to taste the incredible produce on our menu!
